Kimberlines, Band Indie Rock asal Purworejo Merilis Dua Single sebagai Perkenalan
Kimberlines adalah band indie rock asal Purworejo, Jawa Tengah yang berdiri pada Januari 2019–beranggotakan Johny Presto (vokal), Hendi Hendarwan (gitar), Eri Novianto (gitar), Pandu Kameswara (bass), dan Eiqi Afarizqi (drum).
Sebelum terbentuk, setiap personel masih berstatus “aktif” di band lamanya masing-masing, hanya saja mereka membutuhkan satu wadah baru sebagai penyegaran yang lebih serius.
Maka dimulailah proses brainstorming untuk menentukan konsep band dan materi musik yang akan dikerjakan. Dalam waktu kurang dari dua bulan, 5 demo siap rekam dapat dituntaskan. Setelah itu, barulah mereka mencoba memainkannya saat sesi rehearsal.
Demo mentah yang semula berupa notasi-notasi vokal random, akhirnya diberi tema yang relate dengan kondisi sosial di sekitar. Sound-sound british pop/rock medio 90-an dan garage rock era 2000-an dipilih menjadi influence. Sementara, liriknya sendiri disampaikan secara naratif dan sedikit implisit. Formula tersebut disesuaikan dengan karakter permainan setiap personel untuk menghasilkan output yang lebih natural.
Sepasang single “Cheap Thrills” dan “Hard Days in the Sun” kemudian dirilis sebagai bentuk perkenalan melalui layanan streaming musik digital seperti Youtube, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, Tidal dan sejenisnya.
Kimberlines menggambarkan perasaan jengah akibat berbagai macam gangguan pihak-pihak yang tidak bertanggung jawab. Ada pula tentang pemberitaan nirmakna oleh media-media tertentu yang berpotensi mengaburkan obyektivitas, hingga rasa penat buah dari tensi politik nasional yang tak kunjung dingin.
Situasi-situasi tadi–selain meresahkan–juga membuat kita lupa akan garis hidup bahwa manusia pasti membutuhkan kehadiran manusia lain untuk berinteraksi, saling mendukung dan berempati.
